Hello Checkers - Konane!
"Konane", the ancient Hawaiian board game dubbed as "Hello Checkers", is an abstract strategy board game played between two players where the objective is the game to make the last move. The game is played on an 8x8 chess-like board. Players play alternately to jump over an adjacent marble(s) of the opponent to capture them from the board. The person who makes the last move wins! Game (takes a minute to learn): - Before the game starts, players choose to play either black or white. - The game begins with 31 black and 31 white pieces on the board. - Two squares on the board E4 & F4 are empty at the beginning of the game. - Players play alternately (starting with black, which makes the first move) and jump over their opponent's piece(s), with their own piece, to capture them. - The jumping piece must land on a vacant space beyond the captured piece(s) - Players can jump only in orthogonal (vertical & horizontal) directions. - All moves must be capturing moves. - A multiple capture move* (if available) could be made using a single piece. - Only one piece can be used in a turn to capture enemy pieces. - The player who makes the last capture wins! *multiple capture move: player's piece can continue to hop over enemy pieces but only in the same orthogonal direction. The player can stop hopping enemy pieces at any time, but must at least capture one enemy piece in a turn. After the piece has stopped hopping, the player's turn ends. Adoope’s Version of Konane - Hello Checkers: - Two players offline game. - Multiple time controls (2|1, 3|2, 5|3, 10|5, 15|10, 30|15). - Coordinate system and a standard method to note moves. Note: It is impossible to draw in Konane - Hello Checkers because one player eventually cannot perform a capture. ++Standard Version of Konane - Hello Checkers++
